The Seed of the Sabbath

On the day of preparation, Jesus died on the cross, and he rose early on the first day of the week. These book-ends tell us that Jesus laid in death on the Sabbath. The day of rest given to us by our Holy God. The day that we might recline on the bosom of our Father and retreat fully into His goodness. Did Jesus ever recline and retreat! By the power of God, Jesus suffered and labored in his death only to be met with perfect rest in peace. His resurrection; the evidence of God's eternal satisfaction, is the truth that Christ as the final sacrifice is our claim and ability to enter in to the eternal rest. The cross, burial and resurrection is the satiation from the futility of our sins.

May we Sabbath as Jesus did.
May we lay hold of the truth in Christ that in Him our old man is dead.
May we walk in the newness of His resurrection.
May we find rest in the work that only He could accomplish.
May we learn to Sabbath with joy and thanksgiving as we reflect on the magnitude of the cross.
Father, teach me more of the truth of the gospel
and the fullness trinity of days when death was conquered in Christ alone.
