Anno Domini Nostri Jesu Christi

What is our vision? What will be the driving force for the decisions we make, and the disciplines we strive to instill into our daily rhythms?

The over arching sincerity of what drives us is bringing glory to the Lord and enjoying Him in all we do, in this life and the next. A purpose driven by the power of Holy Spirit that brings us before a Holy God, absorbing and learning about Him through His word, communing with Him and His body. These are the means by which we enjoy Him and learn about His glory and how to glorify Him through the daily.

Within this context, the Lord has given us specific desires: to be a father and a mother, a husband and a wife, to build up a family. If "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" and "by wisdom a house is built", then "teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name."

"Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. 
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stay awake in vain. 
It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, 
eating the bread of anxious toil, 
for he gives to his beloved sleep.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, 
the fruit of the womb a reward. 
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of ones youth. 
Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! 
He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies at the gate." 
Psalm 127

"Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! 
You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; 
you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; 
your children will be like olive shoots around your table. 
Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord." 
Psalm 128: 1-4

This is the vision you have given us to fulfill our desires: 
A home that fears you in grace and truth. A full and fruitful home.
A home at rest in you, Jesus.
A home that recognizes our name, what you call us: beloved. 
A home that rises early and fills the day with the labor of our hands until the evening falls. A home provided for.

May you be a year full of beholding our Lord and King, Jesus, of knowing Him and being known by Him, of learning His ways and letting Him reflect in the ways our hearts and in our home. 
Jesus, you alone be the center from which all other things surround:
our mornings and our evenings,
our rest and our labor, our eating and our exercising,
our marriage and our parenting. 
May all of our pursuits flow from you Jesus,
our river of life and spring of salvation!
